Muslinette: a little muslin, made to test one particular feature on a garment – a collar, a shoulder, a bodice.

And doesn’t “The Muslinettes” sound like it could be the name of a 60s girl group? 😉

On the internet, I go by Aliesje. I teach, I study educational technology (like blogs!) and for three years I’ve been a passionate seamstress in beautiful Vancouver, Canada.

I happily sew slowly – working away on about a project a month. I started sewing because I love fabrics, and I’m far happier using high quality fabrics than bargain basement deals (or old sheets!). Much like cooks who love their ingredients, I love to research my fabrics, and enjoy every moment of cutting, pressing and working with a fine fabric. I also love working on ambition projects that push my skills to the next level.

I’m becoming intensely interested in quality garment construction and pattern modifications, and plan on posting about my explorations in this area.
